I first asked students to reflect weekly in Fall 2021. I’ll add more to this page in the future, but here’s the assignment sheet in Canvas (revised in August 2024).

Weekly

What’s on your mind?

What did you learn? What new ideas have come to mind? What thoughts are you having, and what do they mean? Reflect on the course material and share your thoughts. You can reflect on coursework, personal stuff, or anything that comes to mind.

Work to Complete

What It Takes to Succeed

Here’s what we are trying to learn. If you can do these, the assignment will be complete.

  • Write a reflection about anything that has come to mind during the past week.

Must-Haves

Use the same Google Document for the whole semester; just continue to add reflections as we go. Paste the link to this document in the URL area below to turn in this reflection. Please set your Google Document sharing settings so I can respond with notes. Thanks! 🙂

Follow These Steps

  1. Live and experience all there is to life, no matter how mundane.
  2. Think about it and write about it in a running Google Document.
  3. Paste the link to your Google Document into the Canvas assignment to turn in your work.

Pro Tip

What did we cover that’s still unclear?

Please ask if there’s something in last week’s material you need help understanding. Use this Reflection, contact me directly, or use the Ask Me Anything Discussion. I want your learning experience to be the best it can be. If there are ways I can improve that experience, please let me know.

Go Big

As you reflect, consider how this week’s material impacts work beyond this class. What new ideas do you have about your project? How will you use what you learned outside class at work or home? What discoveries did you make this week about becoming a better designer or person?

Reflecting on your experiences can help you understand what it means—often producing new insights. I believe in reflection enough that I post a reflection each week.

“Learn from the past, set vivid, detailed goals for the future, and live in the only moment of time over which you have any control: now.”
Denis Waitley

Psst. Post a message down here when you turn in work or make a revision so I can give feedback. Thanks! ⤦
